Clarence Eugene Tompkins, Jr.

Services for Mr. Clarence Eugene Tompkins, Jr., 63, Ben Wheeler, were held Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 3 p.m. at Chandler Memorial Funeral Home chapel, with Rev. Tommy Weems officiating.

Burial was in Prairie Springs Cemetery in Ben Wheeler, Texas, under direction of Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Tompkins died March 14, 2007 in Van Zandt County. He was born December 5, 1943 in Huntsville, Alabama. He attended Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Bio-Medical Sciences 1978.

He was a resident of the Ben Wheeler community since 1980. He was employed by Carrier Air Conditioner Manufacturer; was Assistant Chief of Steward Union; and was an experienced horseman and farrier.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Tompkins. Survivors include his wife, Reta Coffey Tompkins of Ben Wheeler; father, Clarence Eugene Tompkins, Sr. of Alabama; son, Kelly Hess Tompkins, Alabama; step-daughters Mahlon Johnson of Brownsboro and Jennifer Kuhn of Plano; brother, Larry Keith Tompkins of Georgia; sister, Patsy McCormack of Washington; and 6 grandchildren

Pallbearers were Jim Gibbs, Jeff Lechea, Chris Bennett, Jeff Johnson, James Sides, and Ron Pavageau.

Honorary pallbearers were Ed Bowen, C.E. Tompkins, Sr, and nieces and nephews.
