St. Boniface Catholic Church
By Sue Beams

He is Risen!!! Following a week of solemnity, members of St. Boniface celebrated the Holy Eucharist in splendor in celebration of the Risen Lord. Gone were the purple coverings and barren clay pottery. Our church was alive with brilliant white and fragrant Easter Lilies; gold cloth adorned the altar. The choir sang jubilant choruses of Alleluia! The message of the Easter Homily was forgiveness! Is that not what Jesus Christ did for us? We should dedicate our entire life as Christians and as Catholics to mirroring the actions of the Risen Savior.

The Easter Celebration was the climax to a week-long series of commemoration services beginning with the symbolic washing of the feet dur- ing the Holy Thursday Mass. The Eucharistic Procession made its way from the church to the CCD building and back again. Following the Mass, members of St. Boniface enjoyed fresh baked bread and homemade wine (courtesy of Iris Mamo and Joe Hoffman). On Good Friday, braving the cold North winds, parishioners observed the Stations of the Cross outdoors, followed by the Eucharistic celebration, and left the church in silence.

The Easter Vigil Mass was special, two-fold! Not only would we celebrate the Risen Lord, we could welcome 4 young people through Confirmation. May God bless Ashely Hernandez, Kadie DeLaGarza, Joshua and Jacob Mashburn! A reception followed the Mass.

Our Mass on Easter Sunday was joyous! With the renewing of our Baptismal vows, parishioners gained the knowledge of the Promises of Christ. We welcomed our many visitors and enjoyed fellowship following Mass with delicious cake and warm coffee while the young people searched the church grounds for brightly colored treasure in the form of eggs! They all seemed very pleased with their haul.

There will be a farewell for Father James on Saturday, April 14 following the 5pm Mass. Please join us in wishing Father James a fond farewell and good luck in his new assignment.

Maria Adams, Sara Mashburn, David and Andrea Padron will receive their First Holy Communion on Sunday, April 15, 2007.

We are scheduling our annual church garage sale on April 20 and 21, 2007. Please bring your sellable items to the community room, priced.

Congratulations and best wishes to all who are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries this week. We ask for relief for the sick and suffering. Remember the souls of the faithful departed; may they rest in peace. Continue to pray for the men and women in uniform who serve to keep us free. May God bless and keep each of you!
