Union Hill Baptist News
by Mickie Bigbie

Our Heavenly Father provided us with a beautiful holiday surprise ... snow. For a few, it was their first experience with snow, for the rest of us, it was a first time experience in the month of April. Such a beautiful sight, yet by dawn on Easter morning, it was cold but with no wind nor moisture. He gave us a fine day for our celebration of the resurrection of His son, Jesus Christ. A larger than usual group of folks from the community joined in the Sunrise celebration as pastors from various churches participated in the service, with Brother Danny Cotton of Union Hill bringing the message. Folks then dispersed to their own churches for their Sunday morning services.

Union Hill members returned to the church to partake of a wonderful breakfast cooked by the Sargents and the Austins. Then with thankful hearts and full warm tummies, we all attended our Sunday school classes and the morning worship service. God has blessed so many of our members with musical talent. Again the special music, brought to us this time by Kim Brown, was a joyous testimony within itself. Brother Bill's message was so good. If you have not heard him, I urge you to come visit. It was just a marvelous day at Union Hill.

As beautiful as the snow was on Saturday, it did necessitate the postponement of one project, the raising of the walls for the new house on CR 3300 being built for Brent Miller by his parents. As a reminder, Brent is the young man who was accidentally shot back in 2001 and is now confined to a wheelchair. Though he has been unable to do many of the things that other seniors can do, it hasn't stopped him. He is an inspiration to all. Everyone is invited and urged to help in this project. Of course, experience would be a great benefit, but all help is needed. Share in the blessing of helping this fine young man. Work will start at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21st. Brent's family will furnish lunch. For more information, please contact Danny at the church.

Friday night is "Movie Night" at Union Hill. This time the movie is the delightful "Happy Feet." If you've not been to one of these movie nights, come join us for a fun evening. Popcorn and drinks will be provided. Fun starts at 7:00 p.m.

Remember the Ladies Renewal Conference this Saturday, the 14th, to be held at Lake Highlands Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs. The conference will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will end at 2:30 p.m. Ladies will be leaving the church Saturday morning at 6:45 a.m. Diana Morris will be the speaker.

After the morning service on Sunday, the 15th, the Youth will have a hamburger lunch and a bake auction to raise money for camp. Mom, don't cook, bring the family and support the Youth! It's rumored that there may be other cooked goodies for auction, rather than just "sweets"!

Don't forget our Wheels of Mercy Motorcycle Ministry's monthly meeting has been moved to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday the 14th at the Edom Community Center. If you've not been approached by one of these riders who will be participating in the "Go Ye Run" to be held next month, just go find one and offer your support to help in this exceptional event.

Wednesday evening, April 18th after the service, the Youth Council will meet at the church. Also in the works for the Youth, is a trip to Six Flags on Saturday, April 28th. They plan to leave about 7:15 a.m. and return around 10:30 p.m.

We had lots of visitors Sunday and we thank you for sharing Easter with us. We hope you received a blessing; we certainly did by your presence. Please come back.

It's spring again and new life emerges all around us. Life is good, because as Kim's song said, "We know who holds tomorrow." We pray that you and your family also know and in so knowing, let Him guide and direct you through the coming week. Bye for now. See you on the hill.
