SAFETY & SELF DEFENSE
Kappa Pi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met at the home of Lynda McQuaid Thursday, April 5, at 2pm, for an informative program about Safety and Self Defense. Sherry Fuller, former elementary teacher and intermediate school counselor, brought an entertaining program that related amusing school memories with serious circumstances. She reminded members about common sense safety practices and then demonstrated several specific techniques for self defense. After the program members enjoyed a delightful buffet of treats including a beautiful decorative floral arrangement made of fruit. Hostesses were Fay Blackwell, Lou Brown, and Lynda McQuaid. April Showers and The Delta Kappa Gamma Song were led by Benita Carver. Members brought school supplies to be donated to Chandler Elementary School. Several members planned an excursion to the Tyler Art Museum to see the Whistler Exhibit next week. Members will also be taking homemade cookies to several local schools in appreciation to teachers after the TAKS tests have been completed.
