Brownsboro wins first District game 3-2 in bottom of the seventh

Every ball player dreams of being at bat during a late inning situation with the game on the line. In the Bears 3-2 win over Athens last Tuesday night Collin Wilson had his chance in the spotlight.
With 2 outs and a runner on second base Wilson stepped to the plate with the game tied at two in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Without wasting a pitch Wilson singled to center on the first pitch he saw to drive in Daniel Suggs to give the Bears a 3-2 win.
Wilson's game winning hit was his second hit of the game as he singled to center to lead off the game.
In a well pitched game Brownsboro scored one run in the bottom of the first inning, another in the third inning before Athens rallied for two runs in the top of the fifth inning.
On the mound for the Bears was Junior Keaton Parsell. Parsell picked up the win while striking out 6 batters, walking three and hitting one.

Brownsboro had 7 hits in the win with Wilson leading the way with two. Brad McDonald had the only extra base hit for the Bears with a RBI double in the third inning.
Other Bears with hits were Ryan Epperson, Clayton Boyd, Parsell, Suggs and Jordan Magee. Magee stole a base after his second inning single.
After their first district win of the season the Bears faced Van on Friday in Brownsboro.
Brownsboro took an early lead, scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning on a sacrifice by Boyd.
Van tied the game in the top of the second before taking the lead in the third. Van added runs in the fourth, sixth and seventh in route to an 8-1 victory.
With the loss the Bears dropped to 11-10 on the season and 1-5 in District 14-3A play.
Brad McDonald and Daniel Suggs had the only two hits of the game for Brownsboro. Wilson scored the only run in the game after walking to lead off the game in the first.
As of Monday afternoon Brownsboro and Bullard are tied for fifth place in district with records of 1-5. Chapel Hill leads district with a record of 5-1, Van (4-2) and Athens are tied for second and Canton (3-3) is third.
Brownsboro will host Canton on Tuesday and Bullard on Friday, both games beginning at 6:00pm. The Bears final game will be on Tuesday, April 24 in Athens.
If Brownsboro sweeps the final four games they have a shot at a playoff berth.
