Get out your Stetsons & stilettos, we're goin' back to the ranch! Get ready to kick up your heels! This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the American Cancer Society's Cattle Baron's Ball in Henderson County. The new chairman and committees are in the planning stages to make this the biggest and best Henderson County Cattle Baron's Ball yet! The evening is set for Saturday, October 6 at the Joslin Ranch on FM 2495 in Athens. The theme for this year will be "Stetsons & Stilettos. " It has been decided after a couple of years at the Cain Center in Athens, to take the Ball back to the ranch. The guests can deck out in their best boots, jeans, and cowboy hats and get ready for a stompin' good time. There will be live entertainment with a dance floor, a live and silent auction, great food and lots of socializing. A good time is promised for all. The Ball began in 1998 when the event was officially designated as the Cattle Baron's Ball by the American Cancer Society Board. Although the event had taken place for a few years before, it was decided to take the event to the next level. The Cattle Baron's Ball Chairman for 2007 is Betty Abendroth of AB Graphics in Athens. The Ball raises funds to support research, education, advocacy and service in the prevention and treatment of cancer. The American Cancer Society Board in Henderson County supports several programs within the county including a Patient Resource / Services Room, Reach to Recover, Road to Recovery and Tell a Friend. Abendroth encourages all of Henderson County to become involved in this worthy fundraiser. For more information on underwriting opportunities or participation with the Cattle Baron's Ball, call Betty at 903/677- 7700 or contact a member of the Henderson County ACS Board. |
