Final Curtain Players to perform "Night of the Foolish Moon"
By Summer Hulsey

If working diligently, studiously and really having fun at the same time can be a reason for UIL One Act Play Competition, then The Final Curtain Players of Brownsboro High School fulfilled that reason.

The Final Curtain Players will be presenting their comedy, The Night of The Foolish Moon, Friday April 27, at 7:30 pm., in the Final Curtain Players auditorium.

One could label this comedy as a romantic comedy, or real life with fantasy, or fantasy existing today. The playwright has ingeniously infused the characters of the famous 16th century Spanish writer, Miguel de Cervantes in the life of a bachelor teacher who dreams of a quest, his brother who is a successful district attorney, his mother who operates a summer theater, and a gangster murder witness for the state.

The audience should really enjoy the antics of Don Quixote and his sidekick servant, Sancho Panza in full regalia who comes to Roger to fulfill his quest. Poor Sancho has his own "struggles" as he seems to vainly fulfill his "duties."

Starring as Roger is BHS junior, Eric Orange, who played Charlie Brown earlier this season. Roger's possible "love quest," Bernatte, is played by Amanda Parker.

Senior, Zach Shaffer plays Victor the district attorney. Mom to Roger and Victor is Haley Smith.

Our two characters from the past are performed by freshman, Jeff Jeler as the aging, befuddled Don Quixote, and sophomore Gage Guinn is the knight errant to be servant, Sancho Panza.

Handling the technical end of the competition play are Chris Mueller on lights, Alyssa Bledsoe on sounds, John Boyd backstage machinery and lights, and Juan Macias on computer graphics. Summer Hulsey and Chaise McFarlin were alternates.

Remember the play is only 40 minutes long, so come early, laugh, and then have plenty of time on a Friday night to have more enjoyment elsewhere.

There is no charge for the performance, but donations are accepted.
