Bearettes fall on the road in Chapel Hill

Lacy Wilkerson doubled and scored in the sixth inning to give the Bearettes their first run of the game last Tuesday night in Chapel Hill.

Wilkerson's run came with the Bearettes trailing 9-0 to break up the shutout bid by the Lady Bulldogs. Chapel Hill rolled on to win 9-1, picking up their first win in District 14-3A play.

With the loss the Bearettes dropped to 2-6 in district play while the Bulldogs improved to 1-7.

Danica Edwards was 1-3 with a walk and a stolen base, Morgan McGill was also 1-3 against Chapel Hill.

On Monday the Bearettes fell 6-4 to Canton all but eliminating their chances of making the playoffs.

Van defeated Athens in double header action on Monday to claim the District 14- 3A crown. Van, 9-0, will finish the season in Canton on Friday.

Canton, Athens and Bullard are all tied for second in district with records of 5-4. The Bearettes are 2-7 after Monday and will host Bullard on Friday night at 6:00pm.

Two seniors, Danica Edwards and Morgan McGill, will take part in Parents Night on Friday before the game.

Athens will play Chapel Hill (1-8) on Friday needing a win for a shot at second place.
