Chandler F.U.M.C. Fill all who love you with your happiness. Psalms 5:11- 12 We spend much of our time in the pursuit of happiness, and often fail to attain what is true happiness. Many in the world today focus on physical gratification as a means of obtaining happiness, which often are fleeting and frequently detrimental to one's well being. But recent studies have showed that highly spiritual people were twice as likely as those lowest in spiritual commitment, to declare themselves very happy. For as Christians we know that "the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure and full of quiet gentleness. Then it is peace-loving and courteous. It allows discussion and is willing to yield to others; it is full of mercy and good deeds. It is wholehearted and straightforward and sincere" - James 3:17 I asked God to give me happiness. God said, "No, I give you blessings. Happiness is up to you." I asked God to make my spirit grow, God said, "No, You must grow on your own, but I will prune You to make you fruitful." I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life. God said, "No, I will give you life so that you may enjoy all things." I asked God to help me love others, as much as he loves me. God said, "Ahhhh, finally you have the idea." -Author Unknown Sunday, April 29 a reception in honor of Reverend Luckert and family will be held at the home of Mary Stewart, 13760 FM 315 North, from 4 to 6 p.m. Co-hostesses will be Edith Billie Pollard, Polly Dunklin, Ruthie Callaway, Alice Murl Kidd, Martha Copeland, Dorothy McHam, Rosie Bussman, Gayle Haynes, Debbie Cade, Shelia Spencer, Ginger Stewart, Linda Keeling, Jeanette Irvin, Linda McKeever and Anita Price. It is the desire of the prayer committee to ask God for the exciting and to give strength in the difficulty. Sunday morning the 29th you will have the opportunity to commit to one of prayer. It can be a few minutes when you have your personal prayer time or continual thought and prayer as you work through your day. We hope to have at least one person and will take as many as desire, to cover the Monday- Saturday weeks, beginning April 30 through June 2. There will be prayer guides to use if you desire. The prayer focus will be for David Luckert and Russ Munch and families, as well as the church staff and committee chairs of the church. The sign-up sheet will be available at the Welcome Center in the foyer each Sunday. There will also be an opportunity for dedicated prayer during each Sunday school class. Please don't let this opportunity pass without participating. Submitted by Shirley Murray, Chairman Prayer Committee. The JoyJinglers, the bell choir for second through fifth grades, under the direction of Diana Keesey, performed their final program for the season last Sunday. It was amazing how well these children played. We are blessed that Mrs. Keesey shares her musical talent and gift of teaching with the congregation. Members of the Joy Jinglers were Gabe and Will Grantham, Cub and Zane Griffin, Amy and Michael Ibarra, Taylor Johnston, Tommy Pollard, Sami Jo Taylor, and Lyn York. The Wesley Fellowship class recently challenged the Covenant class for donations to help the Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Haltom City, which was destroyed in the recent tornado. The challenge ended in a tie.
