Lake Palestine U.M.C. Now that the warm weather seems to be arriving, everyone is starting to look at those outdoor projects whether they be mowing, planting flowers, or doing some little fix-ups around the house. There are some in the community, however, who don't have the physical strength to do some of these things, so Rev. Prather and Trudy Riddle have asked those people to let us know so that we can send someone from the church out to help. If you do know of anyone who needs some small chores like this done, please contact the church. Mary Chudleigh has been busily overseeing work that the men of the church have been doing on her back porch. She said they have done a great job, although they aren't quite finished yet. We were sorry to hear that the great progress Thetis Jackson made on her foot surgery recovery has been hampered by an infection. She has had to have more treatment, but is coming along fine and should be back in church soon. Argyll Hicks is being released from the hospital to go to a rehabilitation center until he can get his strength back for more independent living. Diana has had her surgery and is doing well. A big thank you goes to Dorothy Botts for making several covers for our welcome center table. She will be having her biopsy tomorrow, so say a prayer for her. In Sunday School, we all enjoyed Joyce Martin's story of her sleeping tests last week. Hopefully, everything she went through will help her get a good night's sleep in the future. Susie Owens had her niece visiting her from out of town this past weekend. She has also lost her hearing aid at the church, so if anyone sees it, please let her know. We were sorry to hear of the passing of Joe Penna's mother, Elizabeth. He and Annie have gone to Colorado where the funeral was held. United Methodist Women's meeting will be held next Tuesday evening at the church. All women of the church are invited to attend. There will also be an Administrative Board meeting this Sunday, with the time to be announced. We were glad to see Bob and June Hitt back this week even though it is just for a short time. They will be traveling again in the very near future. |
