Early voting in local elections begins April 30 Early voting for local elections begins Monday, April 30, and continues through Tuesday, May 8, with Election Day Saturday, May 12. Three candidates have filed for two fullterm, at-large seats on the Brownsboro Independent School District board of trustees race. BISD Board President Joel Irwin has filed for reelection. Charles Anderson, whose seat is up for election, did not file for another term. However, Anderson is running for the post of Mayor in the city of Moore Station general election. Two candidates, Jeffrey Fulgham, Jr., and Donny Wilson will also appear on the ballot. Votes for the BISD trustees election may be cast at the Brownsboro ISD Tax Office, on Hwy. 31, next to Bear Stadium; and Chandler City Hall, on Hwy. 31, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m, Monday through Friday. Election day polls will be open from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., at Brownsboro Junior High Cafeteria, on Hwy. 31; Chandler Community Center, Hwy. 31 and the Moore Station Water Supply building, located at 4720 CR 4319. In the city of Moore Station election, two candidates are running for Mayor. Maurice Lindsey has filled that position since Mayor Arthur Earl's death in October 2006, and has filed for a place on the ballot. Lindsey is challenged by Charles Anderson. All four at-large seats on the City Council are up for election. Filing for re-election are incumbents Carl McKenzie, Lee Johnson, and Michael Earl who are running unopposed. No one filed for the fourth seat. Early voting for the Moore Station general election will take place at the Moore Station Water Supply building, 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Election day polls will be open 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Two seats on the Coffee City city council are up for election and both are contested. Running for Place 2 are incumbent Betty Gail Davis, and Doris Harmon. For Place 4 incumbent Henry Thirkill is challenged by Shirley Walker, Tony Moore, and George Street. Early voting will take place in Coffee City city hall, located at County Road 4217, 7019 Pleasant Ridge Rd., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Polls will open 7 a.m. election day and close 7 p.m. The cities of Brownsboro, Chandler, and Murchison have cancelled their elections as all incumbents are running unopposed. City of Brownsboro Mayor Ronny Harris has filed for reelection, as well as city council incumbents Mayor pro tem Randall Clayton and Len Vest, who are both seeking another term. Seeking new terms in the City of Chandler election are Mayor Joye Rains, and council members Barbara Reeves, and Marshall Crawford. Also seeking re-election are City of Murchison councilmen Roger Adair and Lloyd Smith. The Murchison ISD Board of Trustees have cancelled their election, as well. The two seats up for election will be filled by incumbents Nelda Tillison and Mike Davis who are running unopposed. |
