St. Boniface Catholic Church
by Sue Beams

The Fourth Sunday of Easter can also be called "Good Shepherd Sunday." In his homily, Fr. Luke shared the story of the Good Shepherd. "My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish." (John 10:27-28). The four key words here are hear, know, follow, and give. These elements bring the truth that Christ gives His life for His sheep and will remain with them through His grace. When do we hear the voice of the Good Shepherd and heed His call? If we are open to it, we will hear the voice of the Lord in many everyday situations. When we heed the `small voice' in each of us that is telling us to do the right thing, then we are hearing the voice of God and following His way!

We thank Fr. Luke for once again celebrating the Eucharist with us at St. Boniface. It is always nice to have him visit with us and `fill in' when needed. We appreciate you, Fr. Luke.

This Sunday the Youth did another fine job with the readings, etc. We are grateful for their presence in our church and ask the Lord to bless them and keep them faithful to Him. Thanks also to the Youth leaders. Your time and efforts are appreciated more than you know.

The CCD program has come to its conclusion for the year. What would our young people do without the kind guidance of Iris Mamo, who works so faithfully for them? Have a great summer, kids, and as they say, "see you in September. " (At classes! We expect to see you each week at Mass!)

Welcome to all our visitors. As always, we are happy to see new faces among the familiar ones at Mass.

There are good things to report in regards to our St. Boniface Yard Sale. Because of your hard work, dedication and support, the sale netted a substantial profit! Again, thanks to everyone involved.

The freshly cleaned, repainted, furnished, and redecorated Rectory was open following Mass for a tour. It is absolutely amazing how much work has been accomplished by the hard-working crew. Of course, with Phyllis cracking the whip, is it really so hard to believe? Seriously, you have done an outstanding job and I am sure when Fr. Jesse arrives he will appreciate your efforts. (We hear he will be here on May 4th!)

Congratulations and best wishes to all those who celebrate birthdays and anniversries this week. We continue to pray for those who are sick and suffering. Remember in prayer, the faithful departed. May they rest in peace with Jesus. We ask special protection and prayer for those men and women who serve in the Armed Forces, bravely keeping us from harm's way. May God bless each of you this week.
