Lake Palestine U.M.C. We were all very sorry to hear that the Coffee Landing Restaurant had burned down. We at the church have spent many happy hours fellowshipping there. It will be sorely missed, and our prayers are with the owners as they try to decide what to do. For some happier news, we are excited to announce that Doug and Amy Williams are now the proud parents of two beautiful babies. Lily weighed 7 lbs. 9 oz., 19-1/2 inches and Zach came in at 5 lbs. 2 oz., 18- 1/2 inches. We can't wait for Doug and Amy to bring them to church so we can see them. Congratulations. Congratulations are also due to Jeff Davis. He started a new job this week and seems to be enjoying it. Also, we were very happy to see Diana Hicks back in church this Sunday. She is recovering nicely from her surgery but has to go back to Ft. Worth this week to consult with her doctor. Her husband Argyll is in rehab getting ready to come home. We want to thank Dale Ford. He's doing a great job of learning to use the electrical equipment needed to keep the worship services running. Our prayers are with Thetis Jackson. She has developed some complications in her recovery. Trudy Riddle is currently out of town to be with her daughter during her surgery. This is a reminder that this coming Sunday, May 6th, after church, there will be a special going away luncheon for Shawn Decker who will be heading to Iraq. His parents, Milton and Jan, will be providing the meat (brisket) for the congregation, and everyone is asked to bring a vegetable or dessert. It would also be nice if you have any red, white or blue in your wardrobe, to wear that, or possibly your military uniform if you were in a branch of the service. The United Methodist Women had their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday. Kaethe Griffin had help from Bernard Massey and Herbert Botts as they fixed some doors for her this past week. Our prayers for a speedy recovery are with both Pauline Johnson and Jo Ann Bowman who had surgery last week. We want to thank Angela Martin who gave us such a beautiful solo during the 11:00 a.m. worship service. Be sure to put this on your calendar: Saturday, May 12th will be the Methodist Men's semi-annual garage sale. If you have any items you wish to contribute, call Bob Hitt or the church. |
