Following a study on Texas' history and cultures the Brownsboro Elementary second grade class took a field trip to the Henderson County Fairplex to experience first hand their Texas heritage.

Before splitting up into small groups to rotate to a variety of activities the students gathered in the rodeo arena for a presentation on dairy farming from Aaron Sanders, instructor from the Southwest Dairy Center, in Sulphur Springs.

Sanders explained the importance of including three servings of dairy products every day in order to have strong, healthy bodies.

The Southwest Dairy Center is an educational facility supported by the dairy farm families in Texas and eight other states. Additionally, the Dairy Center operates 12 mobile dairy classrooms comprised of a truck and trailer which hauls a cow and milking machine used for educational demonstrations in school districts throughout the supporting states.

Following a milking demonstration the students divided up for a hands-on day of roping, crafts, square dancing, horseback riding, horse and wagon ride, and more.

The 2nd grade class of Brownsboro Elementary School would like to thank the Brownsboro High Ag students and everyone else who made the day a success.
