Brownsboro competes at Regionals

With a week off to prepare after the District 14-AAA track and field meet several Brownsboro athletes took part in the Region II Class AAA Track & Field Meet in Commerce Friday and Saturday.

Headlining the Meet for Brownsboro was Naomi Scott. Last season Scott advanced to the Regional meet in several events including the 800m run.

Scott placed 14th this year in the 800m with a prelim time of 2:34.65. Naomi qualified for the Regional meet with a time of 2:26.10 at the District meet.

The majority of the runners in the Women's 800m ran a slower time in their prelim at the Regional Meet than the time they were seeded at based on their District results.

Scott also competed in the 400m Dash were she finished 9th overall with a time of 1:02.56. She qualified for the event with a time of 1:03.8 at District.

Also competing in the Women's 400m was Karla Robles. Robles placed 11th with a time of 1:03.56.

Scott's final event was the 4x400 Meter Relay. Naomi's teammates were Robles, Abigail Hernandez and LeCandace Bell. Overall they finished 21st with a time of 4:31.43. Liberty Eylau won the event with a time of 4:01.39.

Bell competed in the 100m Dash and finished 14th with a time of 13.22. She qualified for the event with a time of 13.30 at the District meet. Jasmin Mullings of Dallas Madison won the 100m with a time of 12.25.

Abigail Hernandez claimed 15th place in the 3200m run with a time of 13:11.34 improving her time from her seeding result of 13:25.

In the 4x100 Meter Relay the Bearettes finished 22nd with a time of 52.33. Members of the team were Ashley Johnson, Desiree Johnson, LeCandace Bell and Synola Harmon. Dallas Madison won the event with a time of 47.75.

In the women's field events Morgan Mayse, the daughter of BHS teacher John Mayse, captured gold in the high jump with a jump of 5'9''.

Chelsea Chimney finished 12 in the shotput with a throw of 32'8'' while in the discus Cinnamon Bietendorf finished 16 with a throw of 94'.

In the men's events the Bears were only represented in two events, the 4x200m relay and the 4x400m relay.

The team of Walter Guthrie, Collin Wilson, Ricco Richards and Tristian Warren finished 13th overall with a time of 1:32.89 in the 4x200.

In the 4x400m Brownsboro finished 21st overall with a time of 3:45.56. The relay team consisted of Don Crosby, Mitch Emmons, Michael Bullard and Cameron Warren.

Dallas Madison claimed first in both events with time of 1:28.24 (4x200) and 3:18.72 (4x400).
