Lorie Finley Smith

Graveside services for Mrs. Lorie Finley Smith, 90, of Chandler, will be Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 11:00 a.m., with Chaplain Don Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Hawkins Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.

Mrs. Smith died May 5, 2007 in Tyler, Texas. She was born October 13, 1916 in Gallatin, Texas.

Mrs. Smith attended East Texas State College in Commerce, Texas, and obtained a Masters degree in Audio Visual Studies. She had lived in the Chandler area since the early 1970s. She was a member of West Lake Baptist Church of Chandler and was a retired teacher, having taught for several years at Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas. She also taught a seniors co-ed Sunday School class.

Mrs. Smith was a skilled seamstress and an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles, cooking and bird watching.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carroll Stokes and Mary Fnley; two brothers, C.S. Finley, Jr. and Charles B. Finley and her husband, Clifford G. Smith.

Survivors include a step-son, Bill Smith of Oregon; sister, Glenda Freeman of Chandler; numerous nephews and other family members.
