Union Hill Baptist News
by Mickie Bigbie

In keeping with Mother's Day, Brother Bill chose his message from First Kings, Second Timothy and Samuel affirming the special love of a mother. It was the beginning of a beautiful Mother's Day for the moms of Union Hill. Hope yours was likewise. At the end of the service, Brother Bill took the opportunity to recognize one of our special young men, Taylor Woodruff, seventh grader, who was inducted into the National Honor Society. Taylor is the son of Ron and Vicki Woodruff. Way to go, Taylor. We are all so proud of you!

May I take this opportunity to invite you to the annual Homecoming Celebration to be held at Union Hill on Sunday, May 20th. We have a big day planned and urge you to come be a part of it. Sunday school will dismiss at 10:30 and the morning service will begin at 10:35. The Wallace Family, a Southern Gospel Group from Emory will provide the music. Following Brother Bill's message, we will have a covered dish lunch, so bring your food, friends and family and join in the worship and fellowship. Since this will likely be an extended morning service, there will be no evening service.

Sunday, we will also honor our graduating seniors. You'll want to be there to help us congratulate these fine young people, as they get ready to open the door to another chapter in their lives. We're proud of our seniors: Clayton Boyd, Matt Brown, Christy Cotton, Tonya Kiker, Amanda Groseclose and Bubba Nugent. We pray that the Lord will guide and protect you in your new endeavors.

Also on Sunday, May 20th, there will be a parent meeting following the morning service to discuss details of the Pre- Teen Camp for 3rd-6th grade students, to be held June 19- 22 at Daniel Springs. Cost per camper is $105 and you'll want to be sure to sign up and pay your camper's $5.00 to reserve a bed!

It's nearly time for another super Vacation Bible School, June 10-14, 6:30-9:00 p.m. This time the kids will be given the chance to dive in and "Take the Plunge" with Jesus. We need all kinds of talents and gifts to make this VBS a success, so sign up to help touch lives through VBS. The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board or you can call Diana at 903-469-3402 or 903-288-7575. There will be more updates to follow. Keep in mind the first activity day is May 27th. This will be a decorations work session following the evening service. You are also requested to have your Sunday school class representative attend the meeting on Wednesday, May 30th following the Family Fellowship Dinner to discuss menu ideas for feeding the children each evening during VBS.

I remind you that you still have time to sponsor one of our Wheels of Mercy bikers in the "Go Ye Run." This year they are riding to Glenrose, a four-hundred mile ride, round-trip. Your donation will work wonders as it goes toward the Circuit Riders Motorcycle Ministry for overseas missions, orphanages, operation of Ministry and Christian Fellowship and building projects at the mission headquarters and campground in Rio Grande City. These riders can reach out to areas that you and I might never be able to, and they continue to have awesome results as they spread the Word of God. They are dedicated, hard working and determined to reach as many as they can. Your support will be greatly appreciated, not only by the bikers but by all those who benefit from the life-changing transformation of His Word. May God bless and protect you all as you venture out in your ministry and may He guide and direct each of us as we minister to others throughout our day ... sometimes by our actions only! Gotta go now, see you on the hill.
