Faith Baptist Chandler
by Melva Allison

Our mothers were honored on Mother's Day. Each mother was given a carnation, and Bro. David sang a beautiful song, "When Mother Prayed," dedicated to mothers.

Next Sunday, May 20, our church will be celebrating its 10th anniversary. Joe Ballard who previously served as our youth and music minister will bring the morning message. Lunch will be served following the service. We invite any former members to join us in this special event.

Our high school seniors will be honored with a breakfast Sunday morning, May 20, at 9:45. A slide presentation of the seniors will be shown during the morning worship service. Congratulations, seniors!

Sunday, May 27, will be a special service in honor of all veterans. A table of honor showing pictures of members of our church family who were veterans or who are currently serving in the armed forces will be displayed as well as a multimedia presentation. The choir will present patriotic music, and music will be played for each branch of the armed forces. We are looking forward to the service.

Sermon CDs are available for a suggested donation of $2.00 ($3.00 if mailed). Anyone interested in obtaining a sermon can send an email to sermon@walkfaithfully.com

Twenty-three people from the "Top of the Hill Gang" enjoyed lunch on Friday, at the Farmhouse Restaurant in Van. Those attending were Jerry and Joyce Houston, Paul and Betty Peavy and their guests John and Kathy Patrick, Stephen and Connie Giles, Jack and Maxine Barnes, Paul and Dorothy McMillan, John and Ginny Dabbs, Warren and Nita LeMaster, Cayla and Rick Quenichet, Chris Weeks and her guest Jo Ann Scott, Benita Carver, and Lee Godsey.

Visiting Paul and Betty Peavy this week were John and Kathy Patrick from Bushnell, Florida. Paul and John were in the Navy together, and had not seen each other in 48 years. They had a lot of old memories to talk over. John had been looking for Paul for some time, and his wife, Kathy, finally located him via the internet.

"Casserole Care" met Monday night for dinner.

John and Ginny Dabbs visited their children in San Antonio last week.

Warren and Nita LeMaster visited their daughter in Ft. Worth over the Mother's Day weekend.

Plans are underway for Vacation Bible School scheduled for July 8-12. This year's VBS will be held from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday with a meal served each night.
