The Relay for Life celebration fundraiser, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, will be held Fri. & Sat., May 18 & 19, at the Brownsboro ISD track, on Hwy. 31, 7pm - 7am. Gates will open on Fri., at 3pm, for set up. On-site registration is at 6pm. The opening ceremonies begin at 7pm, and the Survivor's Lap at 7:30pm. Everyone is encouraged to come out in support of this worthwhile event and to enjoy a fun-filled evening.

First Baptist Church, of Edom will sponsor the Watoto's Concert of Hope, Fri., May 25, at 7pm, at the church located at 9714 FM 314, in Edom. Come and experience the energy, and sense the joy and hope these beautiful Ugandan orphans have found. For more info call 903-852-5481.

Attention Veterans! The Disabled American Veterans and Auxiliary #101 of Athens, Texas will be giving away merchandise to all veterans, veteran's spouses and active military personnel of Henderson County, with proper ID, such as DD-214, VA or Military Card with photo. This merchandise is brand new and consists of kitchen utensils, no appliances, pots & pans, dishes, bathroom and bedroom linens, including pillows and blankets. Location is the Henderson Co. Senior Center HWY-31 East, next to the Fairgrounds. This will take place this Saturday, May 19 from 9am-4pm or until all wares are gone. Donations welcome.

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life will honor cancer survivors at a dinner Thurs., May 17, at the Senior Citizens Center, on Hwy. 31, in Athens, at 6:30pm. All cancer survivors and a care giver are invited. RSVP to Tony Kalawe at 903-675- 9271 by May 15.

The City of Brownsboro will hold a city wide clean-up on Saturday, June 2 from 7am-noon. Dumpsters will be made available in the vacant lot next to the Southern Maid Donut shop on SH-31 in downtown Brownsboro. The 6th annual Redneck Soiree will be held Saturday, May 19 at the home of Tom and Kim Birdwell. It will feature a wild game and BBQ dinner served under the stars with music and a silent auction. The "Soiree" is sponsored by Women's Unity Fellowship and benefits the Brenda Epperson Memorial Scholarship Fund for Future Teachers and the Friends of the Chandler Public Library as well as other local community projects. Celebration Sunday 2007 at Chandler First Assembly will be held this Sunday, May 20 beginning at 10:30am. The church will be celebrating 63 years of ministry and will recognize the Chandler Law Enforcement. Following the service there will be a BBQ dinner. A Rabies Clinic fundraiser will be held at New Hope United Methodist Church, on FM 314, south of Brownsboro, Sat., May 19, 10am-noon. Shots will be administered by Dr. James Gibbs, DVM, and are $8 each. All animals must be on a leash or in a carrier.

A Family Fun Day at the Park sponsored by the 1st United Methodist Church, in Chandler, will be held Sun., May 20, at Winchester Park beginning at noon. Come for a great day of fun with games, bounce house, snow cones, and more. Bring your own lunch. Drinks will be provided.
