Chandler 4-H reflects on a year well done

Despite conflicting activities and threat of inclement weather, 12 youth and nine adults attended the last meeting of the season for Chandler 4-H at the Chandler Community Center, Tuesday, May 8.

Reports from the Van Zandt County Fair in April included a 1st in Class placing for Paige Rushing's Santa Gertrudis heifer, with a 3rd place ranking in the division championship drive.

A Beefmaster from the Roddam herd also placed 1st in class and was Reserve Grand Champion in her division.

New officers for the 2007- 2008 year were elected as follows: President - Brian Jarmakovitz, Vice President - Dillon Carver, Secretary - Paige Rushing, Treasurer - Cody Cade, Reporter - Devin Carver, Historian - Caleb Cade, Parliamentarian - Stephen Roddam, and Council Delegate - Presley Sanderson.

Club Manager Dr. Timothy Roddam noted that, as a club, we had 100 percent of our members preparing projects for exhibition at the Henderson County Livestock Show and other competitions throughout the state.

Checks for $25 were awarded to Caleb Cade, Cody Cade, Devin Carver, Dillon Carver, Madison Fulgham, Haily Hargrave, Holly Hargrave, Brian Jarmakovitz, Cassidy Petty, Dylan Randolph, Ashley Reato, Stephen Roddam, Paige Rushing, Colby Sanders, Presley Sanderson, Rylie Sanderson, Haley Suggs, Michael Lyn York, and Robert Dean York.

Our first meeting of the new season will be Tuesday, September 11, at 7:00 p.m., at the Chandler Community Center.
