The Xtreme are playoff bound In their final regular season game of the year the Texas Xtreme beat up on the East Texas Outlawz 41-0. Playing at home in Brownsboro the Xtreme began the game missing four offensive starters but still managed to score with ease against the Outlawz. Offensively the Xtreme gained a season high 403 yards of offense. The game was called with 8 minutes left in the fourth quarter as the Outlawz forfeited the rest of the game. Texas' record improved to 9-2 on the season and 2-0 against the Outlawz this year. Brandon Thompson led the way on offense for the Xtreme passing for 102 on 7 completions, rushed for 40 yards and passed for one touchdown. Overall the Xtreme completed 14-25 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 205 yards on 24 carries. Several players played duel roles in the game. Dontay Richardson played corner and wideout and recorded two interceptions, returning one for a defensive touchdown. On offense he caught 2 receptions for 30 yards. Former Brownsboro Bear Willie Bristow also played both ways on the offensive and defensive line. The Xtreme defense dominated the Outlawz forcing them to lose 78 yards on offense. Texas totaled 5 defensive interceptions and four sacks. East Texas rushed 13 times for minus 72 yards. Next up for the Xtreme is the Greenville Oilers in Greenville to open the Texas United Football League playoffs. That game will be played this Saturday, May 19. |
