Faith Baptist Chandler
by Melva Allison

Sunday we celebrated the tenth anniversary of our church. Joe Ballard, who led Bible studies for a group of 19 individuals who were trying to discern the Lord's will in establishing a new church and later became our youth and music minister, brought the morning message and provided special music. Joe's wife, Kristen, and their children, as well as Joe's parents and Kristen's parents were present. We were also pleased to have former members, Kodell and Wanda Parker, from Mabank attend the services along with several other guests.

Our high school seniors were honored with a breakfast Sunday morning. A slide presentation of the seniors was shown during the morning worship service and each graduate was given a Bible. Joley Bray, one of the seniors, sang a very beautiful song. We are very proud of these young people and wish them the best in their future endeavors. Congratulations, seniors!

After the morning service, a delicious lunch was served, and everyone enjoyed visiting and reminiscing with friends.

The fourth, fifth, and sixth grades enjoyed a lock-in Friday night. They had a great time. We appreciate all those who work with our children.

Don't forget next Sunday, May 27, as this will also be a special service in honor of all veterans. A table of honor showing pictures of members of our church family who were veterans or who are currently serving in the armed forces will be displayed as well as a multi-media presentation. The choir will present patriotic music, and music will be played for each branch of the armed forces. We are looking forward to the service. Come join us!

Visiting Paul and Betty Peavy last week were John and Kathy Patrick from Bushnell, Florida. Paul and John were in the Air Force together, and had not seen each other in 48 years. They had a lot of old memories to talk over. John had been looking for Paul for some time, and his wife, Kathy, finally located him via the internet. (This is a correction from last weeks article which stated Paul and John were in the Navy.)

Jack and Maxine Barnes attended her 31st annual family reunion in Carthage. There were 57 there this year.

Plans are underway for Vacation Bible School scheduled for July 8-12. This year's VBS will be held from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday nights, with a meal served each night.

Also, our youth will be attending camp in Glorietta, New Mexico, in July. Let's continue to keep them in our prayers.

The church has a new website that is currently under construction. Check it out at www.walkfaithfully.com
