TVCC offers Easy Piano Workshop Have you always wanted to play the piano for your own fun and enjoyment, but the thought of taking piano lessons six or seven years is a real turn-off? Learn the Chord Approach Way - it's easy, fun and musically correct. Trinity Valley Community College Community Services is offering an opportunity to master the piano quickly by learning how to avoid reading the bass clef entirely, how chords work, how to chord from the church hymnal, and how to speed read sheet music. An "Easy Piano" Workshop will be offered Monday, June 4. The class will be held from 6-9 p.m., in classroom A106 inside the Gibbs Building on the Athens campus. Cost for the course is $55 and the expense covers registration and take-home materials. Also, TVCC will offer a class on playing songs by ear without relying on music from 6-9 p.m. June 5 at the same location. This is an ideal follow-up to the "Easy Piano" Workshop. This course offers a practical presentation of music theory that includes predicting chord progressions, picking out melodies and determining the key for any song. Both workshops can be taken at a discount rate of $95. Also, future workshops are free to those who take either course. These techniques are the same as those featured in the PBS Production, "Play Piano in a Flash." Pre-registration with payment is required.
