Book signing at the Chandler Public Library

Jim Powell will be introducing his newesst title, Them's Funny Looking Catfish and More Childhood Memories, at a reception sponsored by the Friends of the Chandler Public Library on Sunday, June 3 from 2-4 p.m.

This is his second book of recollections from his child- hood growing up in Chandler. The first sold out quickly, and he was encouraged by his readers to write more. He has collaborated with area friends and residents to present this new volume that details life in the 1940s and 1950s in rural America.

Mr. Powell is retired from Brookshire Grocery Company where he served as Senior Vice President-Advertising. He is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and received his MA from East Texas State at Commerce.

Books will be on sale at the library.
