EMBARQ celebrates one year as stand alone company It's been a remarkable first year for EMBARQ as a standalone, publicly-held company since its inception May 17, 2006. To help make the one-year milestone, EMBARQ employees are engaging in a variety of celebrations internally. Externally, the company will kick off a nationwide food drive; food will be aggregated in about 100 of the company's major work sites. Some work sites also will build food sculptures with the donated items. Upon conclusion of the food drive, donated items will be given to local food panties. After a highly successful brand launch, EMBARQ provided many "firsts" to its customers and the U.S. telecom market. EMBARQ innovations and accomplishments include: * Strong reported financial results and significant stock price appreciation in the company's first year of trading. * The launch of EMBARQ One Voicemail, which integrates EMBARQ wireless voicemail messages with those received on an EMBARQ wireline home phone. Customers are notified on both devices when they have a message and can listen to their messages from one integrated mailbox on either device. EMBARQ was the first local communications company to being the service to market. * The launch of EMBARQ Smart Connect, which allows businesses to move calls seamlessly between their wireless and wireline networks -- all without interrupting the call. EMBARQ guarantees that its HSI price won't increase for as long as the customer has the service. * Becoming the first local exchange company to offer its customers EMBARQ Media Safe, 25 gigabytes of storage offered free of charge to its high-speed internet customers. * Moving its one millionth customer from a circuit to a high-tech packet network, allowing for easier convergence of voice and data services. * Redesigning the company's retail stores with a fresh new look and feel. The new design garnered Retail Store of the Year award from Chain Store Age magazine. The company now has 50 retail stores, an increase of 18 stores since June 2006. * Being awarded the highest ranking for large enterprise business customers in the J.D. Power and Associates 2007 Major Provider Business Telecommunications Voice Services Study. * Dedicating 76,000 employee volunteer hours, exceeding the goal by 62 percent.
