6th Grade & Junior High Band Members recognized during Spring Concert

The 2006-2007 6th Grade and Junior High Bands performed splendidly before family, friends and faculty Thursday, May 17, during their annual Spring Concert.

Up first was the 6th Grade Beginner Band performing "Affirmation," by William Owens; "America the Beautiful, " by Ward/Higgins; and "Gone Troppo," by James Hultgreen.

Recognized for their outstanding performances were several members of both the Brownsboro and Chandler 6th grade bands.

Those from Brownsboro were: Destiny Garrison, flute; Baylee Connor, clarinet; Daniel Blevins, alto sax; Lucas Lemons, trumpet; Jacobi Parker, French horn; Patrick McCarthy, trombone; Celeste Padron, baritone; Daylon Mitchell, tuba; and Abigail Parker, percussion.

Members recognized from the Chandler 6th grade band were: Allison Reid, flute; Kara Barrett, clarinet; Trenton McCallie, alto sax; Courtney Barganier, trumpet; Morgan Barnes, French horn; Bryson Peek, trombone; Nicole McCoy, baritone; Hunter Payne, tuba; and Kaylan Harris percussion.

The Junior High Band performed "The Tempest," by Robert W. Smith; and "Nottingham Castle," by Larry Daehn. To close the concert, the band performed "Apollo 13," by John Edmondson accompanied by a powerpoint presentation of the real Apollo 13 depicting the journey of its astronauts.

Junior High members received individual awards based on four categories: Most Improved, Outstanding Bandsman, Outstanding Musician, and Director's Choice Award.

Receiving Most Improved was Tyneshia McKenzie.

Outstanding Bandsman: Taylor Woodruff and Chelsey Fowler.

Outstanding Musician: Hailey Gray and Jordan Conner

Director's Choice: Trey Volentine.

The 6th Grade Bands are directed by Mr. Mel Isdale - Brownsboro, and Mr. Bud Yenne - Chandler.

The Junior High Band is directed by Mrs. Alice Slayton and Ms. Michelle Stuckey.
