During the National Honor Society (NHS) Installation and Reception hosted by Brownsboro ISD on Monday 32 new members were inducted into the prestigious society.

Current NHS President Emily Williams was the master of ceremonies while residing officers presented each trait of an honor student.

Traits a student must possess to be inducted to the NHS are Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Character, Self Discipline and Hope.

BISD Superintendent Elton Caldwell gave the challenge and he challenged the students to reach for success in the next 8-10 years.

Caldwell cited six things a student must focus on to achieve success in life.

The first was to recognize their God given ability. He stated all the students were intelligent and all involved in activities.

Second was that each student develop their people skills by working on their personality. Third was work habits.

In his fourth point, wisdom, Caldwell stated that he views wisdom as common sense. He said he has seen many people with a multitude of degrees that could do nothing, that degrees without common sense are meaningless.

Choice of friends was Caldwell's fifth point as our friends determine who we become the first 8-10 years out of school.

Finally Caldwell concluded by stating who you pay your allegiance to will determine your success. He quoted the Bible verse "to whom much is given much is expected". (Luke 12:48).
