Chandler F.U.M.C. The wise man's words are like goads that spur to action. They nail down important truths. Students are wise who master what their teachers tell them. Ecclesiastes 12:11 How much have you grown this year in knowledge of Biblical teachings and in Christian life? If you are attending one of the Sunday school classes, then you will have a positive response, for we are blessed with dedicated, well prepared teachers. Attending church services is very important, but to participate in a Sunday school class makes the experience more personal. By involving yourself in a small group one learns to interact with other Christians in a way that extends beyond just church attendance. Christian examples, personal testimonies, and the simple joy of learning in an atmosphere of love are really worth the extra hour. If you have not found a class yet, consider the following adult classes; visit each until you find one that fulfills your needs. God has blessed our church with wonderful teachers. Asbury class; Teacher, Frank Griffin - Young married couples. Seekers class, Teacher, Nancy Bertholf - Mature women. Covenant class, Teacher, Jack Hogan - Men, women, couples and singles. Wesley class, Teacher, Jim and Lou Griffin - Men women, couples and singles. Crusaders class, Teacher (was David Luckert) - Men, women, couples and singles. Fountain class, Teacher, Dr. Tom Cherry - Married couples. Terrific Tuesday's first activity, for the youth ages K through fifth grade, will be "park hopping." The children will be going to several different parks in the area, with an opportunity to "test" each one's playground. The children and sponsors will leave from Fellowship Hall, at 8:30 a.m. and return by 2:30 p.m. The next activity, scheduled for June 12, will be a visit to the Caldwell Zoo and the Sonic on Hwy. 64. The blue sheets located in the church entrance gives the summer schedule and the parent release form for your child. For specific questions call Ken Reid at the church office. The Chandler United Methodist Church KIDS SUMMER MISSIONS started this last Sunday and will continue through August 26th. This activity will take the place of the regular Sunday school classes, from 9:50 to 10:40 a.m. Field trips will focus on mission activities here in Chandler at God's Open Hands and the nursing home. Class activities will focus on mission fields and activities sponsored by the church, such as UMCOR emergency kits and the pray walk. The orange sheet, located in the church entrance, lists the schedule, plus a parent release form, for the short field trips to be taken during Sunday school. Remember, Dr. Russ Munch will be here next Sunday, June 10th. Make sure to keep him and his family in your prayers and to attend church this Sunday to give him a real Chandler First United Methodist Church welcome! What's happening? June 13 is Love, Laugh and Life (the triple LLL) time! 10:30 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. Bring your favorite sandwich makings, salad or dessert, to share with your friends. Play dominoes, chicken foot, or bring your own games. The purpose of the group is as stated, to laugh a lot and to love life more each day. Happy Anniversary - Scott and Jennifer Lackey, Roy and Pat Martin, Robert and Araminta Montgomery, Charles and Barbara Newsom, and Stephen and Carrie Barber. "My darling bride is like a private garden, a spring that no one else can have, a fountain of my own!" -Song of Solomon 4:12 Happy Birthday - Jack Hogan, Stephen Barber, Roberta Herron, Larry Davis, Roy Wilson, Sylvia Lipscomb, Chris Frederick, Tom Jones, Tina Burch, Gerald Essary, Wendy Armstrong, Collin Wilson, Logan Gaughan, Ryan Reid, and Connor Smith. "It is a wonderful thing to be alive!" -Ecclesiastes 11:7 Thought for the Week: "The earth rotates at a speed of over 1,000 miles per hour. Every year this speed is slowed by a fraction of a second. If the earth were to spin at one-tenth less than its present speed, life would be destroyed by searing heat during the day and devastating freezes at night. If the earth were to rotate too rapidly, catastrophic winds would occur. However, the world now rotates at a speed which perfectly balances both cold and heat." Who do you think caused this amazing balance, God or a big boom? |
