HC DEU continues the fight against drugs

The Henderson County Drug Enforcement Unit remained busy during the month of May 2007.

According to Lt. Pat McWilliams, Public Information Officer for the Henderson County Sheriff's Dept., seven search warrants were executed, ten searches by consent were conducted, and two controlled buys resulted in the arrest of 29 defendants.

Eighteen cases were filed; 15 were felony cases.

Three vehicles and nine firearms were seized that are valued at $49,000.

A total of $62,199 U.S. currency was seized.

Two stolen firearms valued at $200 were recovered.

During the month there were 17 narcotic seizures worth an estimated street value of $16,650. Contraband seized included 57.5 grams of methamphetamine, 60.25 grams crack/cocaine, and 3,888 grams marijuana.

There were no drug laboratories seized in May, McWilliams said.
