Summer reading program to visit Fisheries Center ATHENS, Texas-Gators and catfish and books, oh my. This is Texas, not Kansas, and there's no man behind the curtain manipulating the controls -just staff from the Henderson County Library and the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center teaming up to bring added excitement to the library's summer reading program. June 9 story time will take place at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center, 5550 F.M. 2495, during Crocs and Gators Day. At 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., a library staff member will read stories and sing songs with the children, who can also attend regularly scheduled activities such as the 11 0'clock dive show and 3:30 p.m. alligator feeding. As an added bonus, anyone wearing Crocs that day will receive $1 off admission. TFFC will also be hosting displays June 9 as part of the Uncle Fletch's Burger and Bar-B-Q Cookoff, so there will be plenty of things to do and see all day long. The summer reading program will return to TFFC July 4 as part of the annual Fireworks at the Fishery event. Library and TFFC staff members will lead reading and singing activities before the fireworks display, which will begin at dark. Sign-up for the summer reading program is now underway; for a complete schedule of programs and registration information call (903) 677-7295 or visit www.co.henderson.tx.us/ips/ cms/countyoffices/ ClintWMurchisonLibrary. |
