Lake Palestine U.M.C.
by Barbara Cade

We were happy to see Dorothy Botts back in church. Her eye looks pretty good and should be back to normal soon.

We were also glad to hear that Argyll Hicks is doing much better. He's getting back to his old self again. Way to go Argyll.

Joanne Bowman finally had her surgery and she is also doing well.

We also want to congratulate both Ann Blackmon and Brandy Blakeney on their new jobs.

Angie Martin announced in church that Vacation Bible School is just around the corner. It is June 25th - 29th from 6 to 8:30 PM. She thinks she has her volunteers all organized, but I'm sure there will always be room for more who want to help. A box has been set up in the church for supply donations.

Joyce Martin was excited that so far two people have signed up for the GED classes in the fall. More are always welcome. The ladies who are organizing this have been taking a lot of training sessions and working very hard to see this endeavor come about.

Yesterday, Wednesday, was the first fellowship meal held in the evening. It was at 6 PM followed by a worship service. It was also a good time to remind everyone that Lynn Davis and the Seekers Sunday school class are now collecting recipes for a church cook book. Hopefully it will be out in time for Christmas.

We are praying for Thetis Jackson. She has suffered some health setbacks and is now in rehab in Colonial Manor. Her daughter accompanied her husband to church this past week.

We are also continuing to pray for Megan Rogers that she will get some good reports back from her doctors this week. And Gavin Skaggs is also seeing the doctor and needing prayer.

Barb Cade took a trip to Iowa at the end of the week. Lillian Stegall is still in Spain. We hope to see her back here in a few week. Donna Franko was back from her trip to Florida and should be here for a few more weeks until she and Rich head up to Wisconsin and other points north.

Herb Botts announced that there will be a general clean up of the area around the youth building to make room for the new carport and there will also be an opportunity to burn a lot of brush this Saturday, the 16th. The fun will begin at 6:30 AM., so everyone who wants to help is encouraged to come out.

Carla Fisher told everyone that July 1st will be a morning of hymn singing. We want to sing all your old favorites, so if you have a song that you really want to sing, there is a sign up list in the church or you can just tell Carla. So far, Herb Botts has requested the most songs - nine.

There was no youth meeting on Wednesday, but don't forget, the Youth Building is always open starting at 7 PM on Friday nights. Also, June 23rd the calendar says there will be an all day youth camping event.
