1st Baptist Church of Chandler
by Joanne Davis

Bro. Danny went to the SBC National Convention to represent our church this past week. He returned just yesterday, in time for the business meeting, but talk to him and get excited about everything he learned. This is the first time since I have been a member that we have had a representative at the National Convention.

The "June Mission of the Month" again will allow you to help save the life of a child from around the world. The ladies have put out envelopes so that you can give $22 for a Child's Heart. The wonderful people at Samaritan's Purse send children from poor families around the world to the United States for heart surgery. It costs about $2200.00 for one child to fly to America, have the surgery and fly home. We are asking you to take an envelope from the table in the foyer, put your dollars in it, marking off a heart for each dollar, then bring the envelope back to the church and give it to Beth, Marti, Julie, or Olivia or drop it in the offering plate and we will see that the women's ministry gets the money. Please be sure that it is marked CHILD'S HEART so that the money goes where it is supposed to go. Thank you for your generosity.

Christie Johnson and family have returned from their mission trip to Mexico. We are all looking forward to hearing the details about their trip. We are so blessed to have people like Larry and Christie who will step up to the challenge of going to a foreign country and spreading God's Word. "Thank you" is never enough for what they are doing, not only for our church but also for God's Kingdom.

Brother Danny has started the "Chronological Bible Storying " series on Sunday evening. Missionaries often use this form to help natives understand the principles of the stories in the Bible. It gives you a new prospective of some of the Bible stories you have heard throughout your life. Come join us for this series.

Our GAs have also decorated our sanctuary will some pictures that they have drawn depicting Bible Storying as well. It is a blessing to see our young girls and boys taking such an interest in Missions and their church. Both the boys and girls are guided by an adult mentor in the straight and narrow path that God has planned for them. I'm proud of all of them as well as their leaders who so generously donate their time and efforts to leading these groups. If you would like to get involved with the GAs we are looking for a new leader for the younger children. These kindergarten to their graders are precious and a real joy to work with. They are truly a blessing!

On Wednesday evenings Brother Danny is preaching on "Facing Your Giants." It is an interesting series. Do you have "Giants" in your life that keep you from doing and being all that God would have you be? Come join us at 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday and learn how to "Slay your giants."

Do you have a church home? If not, we welcome you to join us any Sunday morning at 9:45 for Sunday School and at 11:00 for our morning worship. If you have younger children, we also have a Children's Church (Castle) for those up through 3rd grade. Please come join us anytime. Our Sunday evening services are held at 6:00 and our Wednesday evening services begin at 6:30. We would love to have you join us.
