Marynell Bryant speaker at VZCGS meeting June 23 The Van Zandt County Genealogical Society will meet Saturday, June 23, at the Van Zandt County Public Library, 317 First Monday Lane in Canton. The meeting will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Buchanan Room. The public is invited to attend. This monthly meeting of the Society will present guest speaker Marynell Bryant, a noted genealogist from Hopkins County where she served three years as president of the Hopkins County Genealogical Society and is currently the librarian. She was also the president of Texas State Genealogical Society and is a current fellow and treasurer of the organization. She has been a professional researcher for 30 years and is the administrator for the Rainey DNA Project through Family Tree DNA of Houston. Ms. Bryant will use candy bars to assist the audience in remembering important research strategies. She will explain who the `3 Musketeers ' are and what the `M&Ms' stand for. She will help you from getting a `Zero' doing your research by using some important handouts. She will also explain how to collect cousins and you will be interested in the `Nutrageous' approach to finding the relationships. All in all this will prove to be an interesting approach to doing family genealogy.
