BISD movers & shakers With the new school year approaching there have been many changes and will continue to be some changes of the personnel in the Brownsboro Independent School district. Several teachers are leaving the district while many more are gracing the school halls for the first time. Below is a look at each school and some of the movement in each school. BES: Lori Reelfs is leaving the district and is being replaced by Lara Cawthon. Ms. Cawthon is being replaced by Shelly Vasequez, formerly of Chandler Elementary. CES: Teachers leaving are Ruth Nelson and Debora Wade. Nelson is replaced by Trista Thomison while Carol Munch takes over 1st grade duties for Wade. Munch is a University of Nebraska grad and has 22 years teaching experience. She spent 15 years in the Cypress- Fairbanks ISD. BIS: Five places have seen movement at Brownsboro Intermediate. Amy Wright is leaving the district and will be by Gwen Brackeen. Brackeen was a 5th grade math teacher and is replaced with Kelli McCoy. McCoy is a Texas A&M graduate and has 8 years teaching experience. She taught for 1 year at Troup ISD, 4 years at Rogers ISD, 1 year at Weatherford ISD and 2 years in Aledo ISD. Susan Penny leaves BIS to teach English at the high school level. She will be replaced by Shana Boles. Boles is a UT Tyler grad and has 1 year of teaching experience in Athens ISD. CIS: Four ladies retired from Chandler Intermediate, they were Leota Arthur, Paula Moore, Susan Scoggins and Sue Smith. Julie Power leaves BISD and will be replaced by Megan Spradlin. Spradlin is a UT Tyler grad and will be in her first year as a school teacher. Moore, Scoggins and Smith will be replaced by Cristel Erickson, Amber Billion and Wanda Crabtree respectively. Erickson comes from BIS while Crabtree comes from BJHS. Billion is a LeTourneau University grad and has 7 years of teaching experience. Her longest tenure was in Lindale ISD for 4 years. BJHS: Chris Frederick retired after 20+ years in the teaching profession. He will be replaced by Felicia Mosley. Mosley will be in her first year as a teacher after graduating from Jarvis Christian College. She will teach 7th & 8th grade P.E. Leaving the Junior High and the district are Laura Carr, Holly Fletcher, Iveta Griffin, Melanie Malcolm, Clark Pearson and Kim Simmons. Replacements for the teachers leaving above are Julie Smith, Stephanie Nalls, Melissa Barrett, Matt Stuckey, James Hatchell and Angie Wright. Smith spent 10 years in the Troup ISD after graduating from UT Tyler. Nalls will begin her first year as a teacher after graduating from LeTourneau. Barrett is a Henderson St University grad and has taught for 3 years. Stuckey will also begin his first year as a teacher and is an SFA grad. Hatchell is one of the biggest hires by BISD as he has taught for 23 years. He taught for 10 years at Rice University. Hatchell will be teaching 7th and 8th grade math and will be the Junior High Athletic Coordinator. BHS: The biggest move in the high school was Doug Williams heading to Sunnyvale leaving the Principal position open. That position may be filled as soon as the second week in July. Jeff "Doc" Howard leaves the sidelines as the head athletic trainer and takes a desk position as the Assistant Principal replacing Kevin McCarthy. McCarthy will now be an Administration Assistant to BISD Superintendent Elton Caldwell. Replacing "Doc" will be former BHS grad and UT Tyler grad Chris Wangler. Leaving the school and the district are Joanne Hann, Angela Hartman, Zack Hobbs, Erin McCann, Ramona Ramirez, Sherry Sanders, Kris Williams and Erin York. Hobbs will be the new Assistant Principal at Sunnyvale Junior High. Golden Girl instructor Debbie Morton will teach high school P.E. and the Golden Girls. She is a Texas State University grad. Jessica Kendrick will replace Hann as an English teacher. She is a first year teacher and an SFA grad. Jennifer Wood has 19 years teaching experience and will replace Hartman as a Spanish teacher. Wood taught for 13 years in Mansfield. Sara Hall replaces Ramirez as an English teacher and is an SFA grad. Angela Gordon replaces Sanders as a Spanish teacher and has 10 years teaching experience. She taught for 8 years in the Tyler ISD. Jami Rodberg replaces Williams as an English teacher and is a UT Tyler grad. New biology teacher Erin Clark replaces Erin York and is a University of North Texas Graduate. School begins Mon. Aug. 27. |
