The annual "Joe Lewis Hill Box Car Derby" scheduled for Sat., June 30, has been cancelled this year due to scheduling conflicts of the coordinators. Plans for next year's annual race on the July 4th weekend will be announced several months prior to the event. We are very truly sorry for this inconvenience. Faith Baptist Church of Brownsboro will discontinue their Tuesday senior luncheons to take a break for the summer. The luncheons will resume in the fall.

Friends of the Chandler Public Library will hold a Garage Sale Fri., & Sat., June 22 & 23. There will be lots of household items, books and furniture. The sale will take place at 501 South Broad, across from the Chandler Fire Station.

The Murchison Volunteer Fire Dept. Annual Pancake Breakfast will be held Sat., June 30, 7am-10am, at the fire station in Murchison on FM 773, just north of Hwy. 31.

The Chandler Lions Club meets every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month in the Chandler Community Center at 7pm. Meetings consist of dinner, meeting and a program. Anyone interested in giving back to the community through the Lions organization is invited to attend.

The Disabled American Veterans & Auxiliary meets the 2nd Monday of the month at the Senior Citizens Center, next to the Fairgrounds on Hwy. 31 east in Athens. A covered dish meal is served at 6:30pm with the meeting to follow. All members and prospective members are urged to attend. The Bread of Life Distribution (BOLD) of food takes place the third Saturday of the month and will be on Sat., July 21, 8am-5pm, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Brownsboro for those in the Brownsboro, Murchison and Moore Station area.
