Breach of Contract Rezoning NIGHTMARE
"Chandler, City with a Heart"???

Can this statement really be true when we have a person in our community who owns many properties and is constantly causing havoc in our neighborhoods? Many of us moved to Chandler believing this would be a safe place for our children and ourselves. Instead we seem to be constantly battling issues of rezoning and negligent construction efforts.

One individual has built storage facilities on West FM 315 near the Henderson County Courthouse Annex that is an eyesore. The promises of a gated, landscaped, aesthetically pleasing facility were not kept. The roadways within the facility are an unpaved disaster. This facility is a haven for crime with reported break-ins.

The same individual again requested rezoning and was allowed (with community opposition) to build another storage facility on FM 315 across the street from the first disaster. This project has been ongoing for over a year and as anyone can see, it is an eyesore and nowhere near completion.

We as proud Chandler citizens are requesting that our elected officials help us put a stop to the continuing, habitual lack of respect for our subdivision and our city. We don't understand why our officials are not demanding that these eyesores not be cleaned and the construction completed in a prompt scheduled manner.

Now, another rezoning request has been made by the same individual in the same area of FM 315. In the Phoenix West Subdivision, he has requested that the Chandler Planning and Zoning Commission change the zoning of a lot.

This lot is at the corner of FM 315 and Kickapoo St., directly across from the Chandler Volunteer Fire Department and where the ETMC ambulance is stationed. This lot is adjacent to housing of young children and elderly citizens. There are Covenants and Restrictions filed at the Henderson County Court- house to protect the Phoenix West Subdivision which are being broken with this request. We work hard to maintain our properties and are not willing to allow our development to become another of the area eyesores!

We have heard several stories, some of which are that a strip mall to include barber/ beauty shop, flea market, vent manufacturing ... will be included there; none of which matters to us. We do not want any business to infringe on the safety of our citizens located in our subdivision.

Not only is this a problem for the safe entrance and exit of the neighborhood, but also a tremendous detriment for the maneuverability of the Fire Department and Ambulance. The visibility at this intersection is extremely impeded by the hills and curves in both directions of travel. Our police department is aware of this safety issue and has been extremely diligent in recent weeks in monitoring the speed of traffic around this section of highway.

We are all aware of the continual coverage from our local paper of the constant accidents and deaths that occur on this roadway.

PLEASE ATTEND THE MEETING WITH THE CHANDLER PLANNING AND ZONING COMMITTEE ON MONDAY, JULY 3rd, 2007 AT 6:30 P.M. WE MUST STOP THIS DISASTER FROM HAPPENING.

We are aware that this is legal holiday and are not sure why our city officials would plan on this date, but hope that this issue is important enough to our community to be heard on this or any other date.

Show this community that you care and that we are the "City with the Heart."

Please attend this meeting. Your Presence Counts!!!
