Mays indicted on two counts of capital murder

The Eustace man charged with fatally shooting two peace officers and wounding a third was indicted by a Henderson County Grand Jury on June 20.

Randall Wayne Mays, 47, was indicted on two counts of capital murder of a police officer for the deaths of Henderson County Sheriff Investigator Paul Steven Habelt, 63, and Deputy Tony Price Ogburn, 61. Mays was also indicted for attempted capital murder of a peace officer and aggravated assault on a public servant for wounding HCSO Deputy Kevin Harris, 40, according to a report from Henderson County District Attorney Donna R. Bennett.

Habelt and Ogburn were shot to death +

while answering a domestic disturbance call near Payne Springs, on May 18.

Mays was wounded by officers returning fire and was taken to a hospital in Tyler. Since his release from the hospital he has been in custody in the Smith County jail.

The Grand Jury also indicted the following:

5. Donald Christian Schlee, W.M, 52, Kemp, indicted for Driving While Intoxicated.

6. Roger Martinez, W/M, 42, Gun Barrel, indicted for Forgery by Passing, 3 counts.

7. Thomas Capps, W/M, 37, Kemp, indicted for Assault on a Public Servant.

8. Darren Butts, W/M, 45, Gun Barrel, indicted for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child/Indecency with a Child.

9. Amber Lynn Coder, W/ F, 19, Kemp, indicted for Endangering a Child.

10. Clarence Anthony Keith, W/M, 52, Lancaster, indicted for Driving While Intoxicated/Habitual.

11. John Melvin Hambrick, W/M, 42, Seven Points, indicted for Possession of Controlled Substance.

12. Roger Bailey Learned, W/M, 21, Mesquite, indicted for Possession of Controlled Substance.

13. Billy Joe Brutchin, W/ M, 32, Hugo, OK, indicted for Driving While Intoxicated.

14. Jimmie Wayne Antley, W/M, 44, Coushatta, Louisiana, indicted for Possession of Controlled Substance w/Intent to Deliver.

15. Debra Roberts Moss, W/F, 21, Larue, indicted for Prohibited Substance in Correctional Facility.

16. James Ruben Steele, W/ M, 50, Tool, indicted for Driving While Intoxicated/Repeat.

17. Randy Lee Anderson, W/M, 42, Gun Barrel, indicted for Possession of Controlled Substance.

18. David Elisha Bone, Jr., W/M, 28, Athens, indicted for Possession of Controlled Substance.

19. Benjamin Clifford Millican, III AKA: Duane Getty, W/M, 52, Wills Point, indicted for Theft over $1500.

20. William Christopher Howell, W/M, 19, Lindale, indicted for Aggravated Assault w/Deadly Weapon.

21. Kamark Antwone Steverson, B/M, 22, Dallas, indicted for Possession of Controlled Substance w/Intent to Deliver.
