God's Open Hands helps the needy God's Open Hands Food Pantry hours are every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m., until 1 p.m., and the Second Saturday of each month from 10 a.m., until 1 p.m. Each month approximately 300+ families are helped. Families in need of food can come to the God's Open Hands Food Pantry and fill out a simple application. A generous box of food is given to each qualifying family, according to the number of family members. When possible, special dietary needs (such as diabetes or food allergies) are considered. The primary aim is to meet the needs of people in the area who are in emergency situations because of job losses, breakup of families, or other trying situations. However, the organization strives to help the needy rather than the greedy. God's Open Hands Thrift Store hours are every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m., until 2:00 p.m. God's Open Hands is the name given to the Chandler helping centers, which include a Food Pantry and a Thrift Store. The Scripture which carries out the theme is Psalm 145: 15- 16: "The eyes of all look to you, God, and you give them their food at the proper time. You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing." The Thrift Store offers a place for people to buy clothing, small household items, and knickknacks, and members of our community are able to donate unwanted items. Any money earned by the Thrift Store goes to the operating expenses of the organization and to buy food for the Pantry. God's Open Hands is dependent upon donations and contributions from concerned citizens and businesses. It is operated entirely by volunteer workers, with no paid personnel. This success of this project has been overwhelming, bringing our communities together in this worthwhile endeavor. Please remember this organization with a donation of food items or a donation of money. We are able to buy food at these locations at a price much lower than retail. While one dollar will buy one or two items at a retail store, that same dollar will buy from six to eight items at one of the food banks. Any help is always most appreciated and remembered! |
