Lake Palestine U.M.C.
by Barbara Cade

The Vacation Bible School last week was a big success, and we want to thank Angela Martin and Jan Decker and all their helpers for all their hard work. The program put on by the children at church on Sunday was great.

Rev. Richard Prather and Rebecca were out of town this weekend attending a wedding in Austin. Richard also wanted to visit his mother in Marble Falls, but word has it that her home is very difficult to get to because of flood waters in that area.

Herb and Dorothy Botts were also attending a wedding this weekend in San Antonio.

We were sorry to hear that Argyll Hicks is back in the hospital again with an infection. JoAnn Bowman is also back in the hospital. There is good news in that Thetis Jackson is now home.

Angela Martin announced that on July 21st, Saturday, the Youth are sponsoring a movie night for the community. They will be showing Pay It Forward. There will be no cost for the event, but the Youth will be selling refreshments.

Also, this is a reminder that the Youth Building is open for all young people of the community every Friday night starting at 7:00.

Next Wednesday, the 11th, at 6:30 p.m. is the monthly fellowship meal. Remember too, that Lynn Davis is still collecting recipes for the cookbook. She has a basket just inside the door of the church for those who want to drop off recipes.

The Methodist Men will be having their monthly breakfast on July 14th. We also want to give a special thanks to Bob Hitt and Rich Franko for the great job they did in getting the church grounds mowed. It's not an easy task with all this rain.

On the same day, the 14th, the Beginning Quilter's class will be meeting at the church at 10 a.m.

July 22nd there will be an open house at the Youth Building starting at 5 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to come out and see all that the Youth have been doing.

We're happy to hear that Debbie Miller's eye is much better. As of Sunday, we were still awaiting word on the results of Dot Blakeney's (Teena's mother) hospital tests.

This next Sunday will be Holy Communion during both services, and everyone is encouraged to wear patriotic apparel.
