McFarlin turns himself in, victim remains hospitalized

The 19-year-old accused of stabbing a 16-year-old June 24 has turned himself in to authorities.

Michael Andrew McFarlin, of Chandler, has been arrested on charges stemming from the stabbing incident that left a 16-year-old in a Tyler hospital.

The stabbing occurred just after midnight Sunday, June 24, at a residence on Farm-to-Market Road 315, next door to the Sunrise Assembly of God Church.

According to Lt. Pat McWilliams, information officer for the Henderson County Sheriff's Department, McFarlin surrendered to Sheriff's Investigator Wick Gabbard at approximately 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 27, at a residence in Chandler.

McFarlin is currently held on a charge of Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon with bond set at $50,000, and on a warrant to revoke community supervision - no bond.

McFarlin will not be released from jail as he was already a fugitive on a warrant to revoke probation stemming from previous drug charges.

The 16-year-old victim remains at East Texas Medical Center-Tyler undergoing treatment for a stab would to his abdomen.

The investigation into this incident is still ongoing, McWilliams said.
