Country Music at Poynor Civic Center - First Thursday. Free admission. Thurs., July 5, Poynor City Council is serving chicken sauce picante (a chicken and sausage gumbo dish), salad and garlic bread, from 6pm- 7:30pm. Donations for the meal will benefit the residents of Frankston Healthcare Center. Anyone who wishes may bring a dessert. For further info call 903-876-5449. Music from 6:30pm-9:30pm will feature The Country Gents. Open mic. Those who wish may enjoy dancing.

Faith Baptist Church of Brownsboro will discontinue their Tuesday senior luncheons to take a break for the summer. The luncheons will resume in the fall.

The Chandler Elementary School Pre-K Registration will take place Tues., July 10, and Wed., July 11, 9am - 1pm. Parents need to bring birth certificates, Social Security cards, immunization records, proof of income from previous month and proof of district residence. Children must be 4 years old by Sept. 1, 2007.

Sail Away with Books this summer at the Chandler Public Library's Texas Reading Club. On Tues., July 10, the theme will be "Ahoy, Pirates!" Turn in your reading log and pick a prize from the Pirate's Treasure Chest. For more info call 903-849-4122.

The Quilters Guild of East Texas will hold their Day Meeting Thurs., July 12, at 10am, at the Tyler Area Senior Citizen Association, 3402 Old Omen Rd. Their Evening Meeting will be held Thurs., July 12, at 7pm, at Eileen Kosnick's home. For more info contact Eileen at 903- 535-7864.

The Chandler Lions Club meets every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month in the Chandler Community Center at 7pm. Meetings consist of dinner, meeting and a program. Anyone interested in giving back to the community through the Lions organization is invited to attend.

The Disabled American Veterans & Auxiliary meets the 2nd Monday of the month at the Senior Citizens Center, next to the Fairgrounds on Hwy. 31 east in Athens. A covered dish meal is served at 6:30pm with the meeting to follow. All members and prospective members are urged to attend. The Bread of Life Distribution (BOLD) of food takes place the third Saturday of the month and will be on Sat., July 21, 8am-5pm, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Brownsboro for those in the Brownsboro, Murchison and Moore Station area. The Tyler Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), Chapter 932, meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at Traditions Restaurant, on South Broadway, at 1900 hours. All Vietnam and Vietnam era veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) between 2/28/60 and 5/7/75 (in-country Vietnam) or between 8/5/64 and 5/7/75 (for Vietnam-era Veterans), and their spouses, are invited to come join us. Chandler Masonic Lodge #993 meets every 3rd Monday, at 7:30pm at the lodge located at 724 N. Broad, in Chandler.

The Chandler AARP, Chapt. # 3018, meets every 3rd Monday of the month, at 1pm, in the Chandler Community Center. All persons, 50-years and older are encouraged to attend.

The Brownsboro City Council meets in regular session on the second Thursday of the month, at 5pm at City Hall.

Boy Scout Troop 342 meets every Monday night, at 6:30pm., at Chandler United Methodist Church. Cub Scouts meet in the youth building of the church at 7pm.

The Moore Station City Council will hold its monthly meetings the 1st Monday of each month at 6pm in the Community Center.

The Kickapoo Creek Kiwanis meets at noon, each Wednesday, at Piggy's Too, located on Hwy 31 in downtown Brownsboro.
