Benefit to aid area mother with breast cancer scheduled A fundraiser to benefit a Chandler mother, Rhonda Cade Pulley, 35, who is fighting breast cancer, is scheduled for July 21 at the Chandler Community Center. Family members and friends have organized a day of family-style fun, with a barbeque lunch, live music, silent auction, and a raffle. Raffle tickets are already available to win the Remington Model 700CDL SF Caliber 300 WSM scoped, nickelplated deer rifle valued at $1500. Tickets for the raffle are $20 and can be purchased by contacting Mary Alice Cade at 903/ 849-2116. The event will kick-off at 11:00 am with a home-cooked, Texas-style barbeque, including brisket, beans, potato salad, and drinks for $7 a plate. Deserts will be furnished by Rock Hill Baptist Church. To-go plates will also be available. The community is invited to bring their families to enjoy an afternoon of good food, accompanied by live music. There will be a silent auction featuring a cowboy lamp with a big saddle donated by Western Heritage Furniture and a rocking chair donated by Brookshire's. An autographed picture of Troy Aikman will be auctioned along with many other items, including gift certificates and homemade quilts. The silent auction ends at 4:00, July 21st. Rhonda, wife of Gary Pulley and mother of Brian, 11, and Shelby, 7, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in November of 2006. Her health insurance was canceled shortly thereafter. Having exhausted the options available in Tyler, she is receiving medical care at Houston's M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. The fundraiser is planned to curb out-of-pocket expenses. For more information, contact Halley Cade at 903/570- 8332. |
