From the... Editor's Desk
By Chad Wilson

Welcome to the first edition of the "Editor's Desk". The purpose of this column I will discuss later in the article.

First off I would like to introduce myself to those in the community who do not know who I am.

My name is Chad Wilson, I am a 2000 graduate of BHS and have worked here at The Statesman since April 2004.

For the past 3 years I have covered the area sports, delivered the papers to local stores, laid the paper out each week and built most in-house ads.

As some of you know our former editor Wanda Nichols recently stepped down from her position for personal reasons. Instead of looking outside the company our publisher, Bill Woodall, named me the new editor.

Not much will change with the paper nor with my job functions. I will still cover all area sports and lay out the paper. We are currently in the process of hiring a news reporter to cover all the area news from Council meetings to new business and so forth.

I am engaged to Lacie Royal pictured above with me. We have been engaged since June 21, when I proposed to her at the Dallas Arboretum. She first asked if I was serious and then happily said YES!

We plan to stay in the area once married, tentative wedding plans are for the first part of 2008. She is from Seagoville and currently works as a Senior Teller at a credit union.

For more information about me you may check out my myspace page at www. myspace.com/chad41wilson.

The purpose of this weekly column is to address the most valuable part of the Statesman, our readers.

Without you, we would simply not be here. We thank you for your 30+ years of support.

If you have any questions feel free to write a letter to me, the editor, and I will address it in this column.

Thank you for reading our paper and your support. Any news items you would like to see in the paper please email your suggestion to Statesman @embarqmail.com.
