From the... Editor's Desk

It has been an interesting week so far as Editor. First off I would like to say "Thank You" to everyone who has congratulated me on the new position and my engagement.

On a regular basis we received calls here at the office for various deadline oriented things. This week I will address a few of these deadline issues.

Our basic deadlines for ads and copy are located in the left hand column of this page as well as other important information about your paper.

One deadline that seems to be overlooked the most is the deadline for event coverage.

It is best to contact us at least one week in advance to let us know about your event. We would love to be at every area event, but at this time we do not have enough writers to staff each event.

However, we encourage everyone to send in their information to us about their event by Mondays at 5:00pm. You may send in photos along with your write up.

Some events are spur of the moment and we realize that. During those limited circumstances go ahead and give us a call and we will see what we can do to make it to the event.

The What's Happening deadline is Tuesday at noon for the same week's paper.

Also, we welcome response from all our readers both positive and negative. You may call us, email us or write us any time you have an opinion on something you see in the paper.

Due to the overwhelming response from our readers we are looking to bring back the "Cook of the Week" column in the near future.
