West Lake Baptist Sunday: We had over 400 in the morning service for another exciting day of worship at WLBC. We're so grateful for all that God continues to do, and for the spirit of excitement and anticipation that is present week by week. We do very much appreciate all of you who come as guests to drop by to check us out and to see what God is doing at WLBC. You're a blessing!!! New Members: We'd like to welcome Charles and Betty Blackwell, and Matthew Cochran to the WLBC fellowship. Welcome to the family. Community-Wide Youth Lock-In: The date of the lockin has been changed to AUGUST 3 & 4, to accomodate the special guest speaker, Jason Spurgeon. Jason is a youth speaker who recently served as a facilitator at the Youth Evangelism Conference in Dallas. The lock-in, which will be held at WLBC, is sponsored by First Baptist Church, Concord Baptist Church, and WLBC. "We Are The Body" is the theme of the event. We'd love to host your group, but you'll need to RSVP to come. To RSVP call Marc Nichelson, Minister of Students at WLBC at 903- 849-6042. Ladies Ministry: The ladies ministry of WLBC, led by Cindy Pierce, met this last Thursday for a great time of Bible study, food and uplifting fellowship. Jazz Meets Hymns: The Concert: On Sunday, August 5, Marc Nichelson, our Student Minister and saxophonist will be in concert, featuring a mix of hymns and traditional favorites. One Hymn-Azing Night: This Sunday night for our 5th Sunday Singing Service, we will feature a mix of favorite hymns and gospel favorites selected from a list contributed by our members. Along with the congregational singing, and specials we will share the compelling stories behind some of the favorite hymns and songs of our time. Sunday Messages: Pastor Eric continued the verse by verse teaching series through the Book of Second Peter, entitled, "Your Life as God Intended " with the Sunday morning message entitled "Deliver Me." Sunday night, we concluded a two-month teaching series entitled "Is The God of Islam the God of the Bible?" by exploring the historical roots of the present Shiite vs. Sunni divisions in Iraq, as it relates to a larger historical legacy of division, aggression and bloodshed. This was contrasted with the legacy of Jesus Christ, who as the Prince of Peace, provides peace with God resulting in peace with others. Summer Softball: The three WLBC teams played Wednesday night at 6:30 (Co-ed); 7:30 (Co-ed) and 9:15 p.m. (men's team). |
