FM-315 wreck claims two lives

Before noon Tuesday this three vehicle accident occurred on FM-315 S. on the Lake Palestine bridge.
A three vehicle accident resulting in two deaths and three people being hospitalized occurred Tuesday morning just outside of the Chandler city limits.

The accident happened approximately 11:30am on FM-315 South of Chandler on the Lake Palestine bridge, just before FM- 3709.

While still under investigation Texas Department of Public Safety officer Brent Davis reported that a garbage truck was heading northbound on FM-315 and veered into the southbound lane colliding with a green Dodge Caravan.

Once the garbage truck hit the Caravan it flipped with the cab facing the southbound traffic. The truck was then struck by a maroon 4- door Buick Regal.

The driver of the Regal, the truck driver and a pas- senger in the Caravan were taken to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler by EMS.

Sue Starnes, PCT. 3 Justice of the Peace declared the female driver of the Caravan and a male passenger dead on the scene.

Details of the injuries were not released, nor were the names of those involved as of press time Tuesday.

Chandler VFD, Westside VFD, Brownsboro VFD and the Chandler PD assisted in the accident as well as Henderson County Sheriff's office and DPS.

Traffic was rerouted until about 6:00pm Tuesday evening as the bridge was closed.
