We all look forward to the weekend and this weekend started off with a very special ceremony focused on the new Brownsboro Police Department vehicles. Saturday evening, Sgt. Dawn Cunningham and Officer Lonnie McKinney drove their new black and white police cars up to the folks waiting to witness the blessing of the new vehicles.
As Sgt. Cunningham and Officer McKinney, members of the Wheels of Mercy Ministry, the Daughters of Destiny, Union Hill Church members and friends encircled the new cars, Brother Bill Hamilton, Pastor of Union Hill asked God's blessings on the vehicles, their occupants and a special prayer that God will watch over and care for the men and women, who routinely face danger each and every day to protect us. We owe a great deal of gratitude to the fine officers of the Brownsboro Police Department. "Thank you" seems so inadequate to let them know how much they are appreciated. They're caring friends to those in our community and dedicated to keeping us safe.
Sunday, the 5th, youngsters began to "Take the Plunge and Make a Splash with Jesus" as Vacation Bible School started. This week has been very special for them as they have certainly "soaked" up those wonderful Bible stories and have learned many lessons from them. It's been a great week, so far, for each and every child.
Coming up for the youth, don't forget the campout at Tyler State Park on August 17th and 18th and since school is just round the corner, don't miss the "Back to School" dinner out after the evening service on August 26th.
Since we're talking about campouts, remember the third annual campout coming up in October. We've had a great time for the last two campouts, and we are starting early to plan for this one so that we can get even more people involved. There are many things to get ready and many opportunities for you to join in. Contact Steve or Glenda in the church office for various ways in which you can help.
Mark your calendar on Sunday, August 19th for one of the very best and fun times that we have ... an Ice Cream Supper! Yummy! You don't want to miss it.
One more reminder. Tee shirts for Biker Fest 2007 are now on sale. Order yours now and show your support for our terrific motorcycle ministry. More coming up later on Biker Fest 2007.
Sunday, Brother Bill took his message from Second Corinthians, chapter seven, verses two through eight ... very thought provoking. Made me realize there is no sacrifice too great, to be able to minister to those whom you know do not know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. I'm sure it affected others in the same way, so it's time to quit whining and procrastinating. Let's climb out of our safe, cozy comfort zones and go out and do God's work. Remember, we're talking about eternity. See you on the hill.
