Chandler Lions Club helps support the troops this Saturday

Need your dogs dipped for fleas and ticks for free? Are you hungry for a quick lunch in a picnic atmosphere? Want to hear live great country/ western music?

The Chandler Lions Club, in cooperation with Priefert Manufacturing Company and Atwoods Farm and Ranch Store, is sponsoring a special fundraising event to continue on-going efforts to send regular shipments of personal items to the troops overseas, especially in Iraq and Afghanistan. Live country/western music will be provided by the Stars of Texas Band.

Bring your friends, neighbors, kids and dogs on August 11 from 9 am to 3 pm to Atwoods Farm and Ranch Store located at 303 WNW Loop 323 in Tyler.

There are many American military personnel from Northeast Texas away from home and in need of our constant support. Come enjoy a sack lunch of hot dogs, chips, and drink, and bring your dogs for a refreshing bath in a flea and tick insecticide dip. Visit with Lions Club members to learn more about the numerous humanitarian acts of kindness provided for Henderson and Smith County residents.

If you care to donate items, the following list includes non-perishable products regularly sent: DVD movies, CDs of all kinds; batteries of all sizes; white socks; food items in individual packets including M&Ms, beef sticks, beef jerky, all hard candies, peanut butter in plastic jars, cracker packets (Austin, Lance, etc.), ready-to-eat packets of tuna, chicken, nuts, and dried fruits, powdered sports drinks in individual packets or large containers; lip balm; small containers of foot powder; individual packets of moist towelettes.

Donated items or checks also may be delivered to the Chandler City Hall on Hwy 31 East. The Chandler Lions Club regularly meets at the Chandler Community Center each first and third Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm. All interested in learning more about the many activities are invited to attend any meeting.
