Martin Springs Baptist Greetings and God's Blessing to each and everyone from "The Little Church with the Big Smile." We had 85 in Sunday services. Welcome to our visitors. Please come again. Bro. David's sermon was "Are People Prepared for a Problem? " from II Kings 16:17-18. One of our faithful members, Mrs. Elizabeth Lashley passed away the 11th of August. Services were held on Tuesday at Chandler Memorial with Pastors David Tidmore and Russell Kuhns officiating. Burial was in Chandler Cemetery. Bro. Russell Kuhns and his son, Nehemiah were in Rochester, NY last week on business. They returned Friday. Bro. Mack Smith was back in church Sunday. As always he sang a very special song, "House of Gold," one that he recorded several years ago. Those celebrating birthdays last week were, the Scheen twins, David Strickland and John Fowler. Many more happy birthdays to come. If anyone likes to scrapbook, please feel free to come in Thursday nights at 6:00. We meet in the church fellowship hall. The Ladies Lunch Group met at El Presidente's last Wednesday. There were eight of us for fellowship together. Mr. and Mrs. David Strickland had as their guests last week, their son and wife, Sonny and Beth from Oklahoma. Come and join us for Wednesday night Bible Study. This week Bro. Kuhns will be teaching on Angels. Did I hear Curtis Durham say he didn't know the Cowboys were playing last Thursday night? Now that's a shock!! The Youth are looking forward to their youth retreat the end of this month. Details later. Our Church Homecoming will be the 9th of September. More details will be available later. But mark your calendars and join us. Ronnie and Ruth Smiley spent the weekend in Irving visiting Ronnie's sister. Thank you, Ms. Oma Greer for your phone call about my writing this column. Jonnie Hopson has a new great-grandson. He was born July 26. His parents are Taylor and Josh; grandparents are Michael and Lois Hopson of Chandler; uncle, Kyler Hopson; and great aunt, Donna Jennings. |
