By Chad Wilson

For the fourth consecutive year the City of Brownsboro has voted to maintain the tax rate of .004426 during their regular scheduled meeting last Thursday at City Hall.

Based on figures from the Henderson County Appraisal district the City of Brownsboro total appraised value is $54,431,694, about a two-million increase from last year.

The total tax value of the City was $29,919,904, also about a two-million dollar increase from last year.

Last year the City was appraised at $52,272,930 with a taxable value of $27,640,560.

By maintaining the same tax rate for the fourth year in a row, the City of Brownsboro still has one of the lowest tax rates in Henderson County.

In other news the City Council read the request of the Wheels of Mercy to put up "share the road" signs along Hwy-31. The Council felt this was an issue for the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDot) and referred the Wheels of Mercy to TXDot.

The City also chose Stream Energy as their new electric provider for a one year term.

Brownsboro Police Chief Ron Shields thanked the council for approving the purchase of the new police cars as well as raises for the force that took place in a previous meeting.

Also released during the regularly scheduled council meeting was the BPD July activity report.

During the month of July BPD responded to 47 calls, with motor assitance being the highest number of calls at five.

Brownsboro PD issued 238 citations during July, made nine arrests and worked 12 cases.

The Brownsboro City Council meets on the second Thursday of every month at 5:00pm in the Brownsboro City Hall. The meetings are open to the public.
